Class 4 visit the Kingswood Centre

On the 15th June we waved goodbye to our parents for five days. The days we were spending away were to be spent at Staffordshire Kingswood.

We were in four different dorms. Dragon , Guinea Pigs, Beaver and Dog. For a competition for the tidiest rooms we had room inspection each morning. This is where Miss Johnson and Mrs Balfour came and see how clean our room was. They also looked for the individual winner as well. Our bedtime was lights out at 10pm and out of bed by 8: JJam. Room inspection was at 8:15am. I was the tidiest and Joel was the tidiest boy.

There were many activities including go-karts, aero ball, low ropes, nightline and abseiling. We also did indoor activities from their discovery programme these included finding fin, flash dance and eco-trail mini-beasts. Over the holiday we made friends with many instructors - these are a few of their names Sarah, Shaun, Luke and Scott.

The food at Kingswood was extremely delicious.  We were fed at 8:40am for breakfast, 1:20 for lunch and dinner at 6:20pm. Every day for lunch and dinner there were some kind of chips, most people had them…shh don’t tell the grownups. For the first meal there was cereal and cooked breakfast every day with a selection of jams and butter. For lunch we never had sandwiches but always had pasta.

On the way home before we got on the motorway we sang, but as soon as we did a film was put on. We were allowed to eat sweets on the journey. However there weren’t many left for the return.

Overall it was a great holiday, especially the food.

Introduction

We departed to Kingswood on the 14th of June. We went on a coach.

The journey to

On the coach we watched ice age. I also read some Beanos. Sometimes the wait was extremely agonising. I was relived when we got there.

Mechanical monsters

Quad bikes was a monstrous mechanical experience of a lifetime, though go-karts had a little more kick! I was a loony quad king because I went full speed round the freestyle track! Unfortunately, I crashed the most at go-karts! We had to wear motorbike helmets.

I.C.T activities

We had an I.C.T session on finding fin and 3 on flash dance. In finding fin we studied rivers and in flash dance we made an animation movie. Session one was taking pictures. In 2 we made backgrounds and in 3 we composed music.

Spare time

In our spare time we played on the beach. We also played top trumps in the dorms. Sometimes a small group of us went to the shop. I bought a yoyo and an animation teddy.

Conclusion

In all it was a simply fantastic experience.

On Sunday the 15th of June, class 4 began the journey to the Kingswood centre in Staffordshire.

We called our instructor Shaun the sheep, since his name was Shaun Jones! Another instructor, Sarah Peacock, helped us with activities like campfire, nightline and Finding Fin. when we did Finding Fin we went in the stream and my wellies started leaking!  There was also an ICT block that Shaun the sheep and Liam did flash dance with us which is moving a toy bit by bit at a time to make a movie. Every morning we went to the meeting room and Shaun told us what we were doing that day.

In our spare time we played volleyball, sometimes we played girls against boys. If we weren’t playing volley ball we were burying each other in the sandpit or doing cartwheels with sand in our pockets. After that if we had any more spare time we were allowed to go to the shop. I think it was great we had so much freedom. At the shop I bought a cute, fluffy cat, a postcard and a Kingswood fridge magnet that said been their, done that, loved it which is so true!

My dormitory was called Guinea Pigs. There were bunk beds in the dorm and a stack of shelves at the front of the room. There were 8 people in my room. The people were: me, Liv, Jacqui, Emily, Nicola, Bianca, Cordelia and Misha. Every morning at 8:15 we had room Inspection. That was when the teachers came in to see whose room was the tidiest. At the end of the week we won the room inspection. I did little sculptures with cameras, shoes and purses. For the activities you had to wear trousers that went below the knee.

On the journey to Kingswood I was partners with Lizzie. We ate sweets and watched the Ice Age movie. Me and Liz were both a bit hyper! We kept finding notes mum had put in my suitcase, books, notebooks, wellies and she even put one up my teddies top! The coach broke down on the way to pick us up from Kingswood . After waiting for about 2 hours a coach got there to pick us up that was called Fast Line coaches!

I think it was the best residential ever and my favourite bit was the zip wire.

On the 15th June we set off to go on our residential trip to Kingswood .  Where we could do many, many really fun activities and where there was a mini beach and where we learned many things.

It took one and a half hours to get to Kingswood from Whiteshill School , my school. We left school at 1:30pm and arrived at 3:00pm. On the bus we watched Ice Age, that I could not even hear from all the loud noise.

When we got there we went to the meeting room first to meet our instructor and discuss things like the rules. After, we went straight to our dormitories. The annoying thing about the beds was that we had to make them, which took one trillion years!! Trust me. We usually messed up our beds after room inspection, that we had ever day at 8:15am. We had lights out at 10:00pm and lights on at 8:00am. Our dorm was called Beaver and the other boys room Dog (No genders were mixed in the dormitories).

We did many, many activities. More than 4 a day! My favourite activity was the quad bikes. It was amazing! You could do drifts and skids on every corner. With every activity there was at least one instructor. Practically every activity you had to wear safety equipment.  That was quite annoying, because you had to wait for a long, long time for your go.

The spare time in-between was one of the best things about Kingswood , because you could do what ever you wanted to do. There was a mini beach with a net where you could play with the sand or play volleyball and football. There was a playground as well. You could play netball and basketball because there were nets.

Kingswood was the best residential trip I have ever been to. It was fantastic, brilliant and extraordinary. Whoever is reading this, ‘You should go there!’
