Parents Information

Introduction
This section should provide parents with a quick reference for essential information. Back to top
The School Day
Morning Session - 8.50 to 12.00

Afternoon Session - 13.00 to 15.05

Break times - 10.30 to 10.45

(Infants have a further 10 minute break in the afternoon)

Mornings -

Parents are advised that children arriving before 8.40 am do so at their own risk. From that time until 8.50 am the Headteacher takes responsibility for pupils on site.

Once a child has arrived, they must not leave the school again without permission. Children should go straight to the playground and should only go to their classroom if asked to by a teacher, or have a genuine reason for doing so. Should it be a wet day, children will be directed by a teacher straight to their classrooms.

Afternoons -

Please wait for your children in the playground at the end of the school day. Children will only be released to known parents or carers. If a parent wishes their child to go home with another adult, or independently, they must inform the teacher beforehand. Back to top
Morning break
Children can bring a snack to school for this break. We ask that children only bring healthy foods Monday to Thursday (such as fruit or vegetables). On Friday they can bring a snack of their choice, so long as it can be eaten easily whilst the children are in the playground.

The children are also encouraged to have a drink at the end of break time. They can have either water, a drink brought from home, or cartons of milk can be purchased. Please see the School Secretary for a form to order milk. Children entitled to free school meals are also entitled to free school milk. Back to top
Lunch Times
School cooked lunches can be provided for £1.90 per day (some parents can claim free school meals for their children - please see the School Secretary for details). Money for lunches should be sent to school each week on a Monday, in an envelope marked with the child's name, class,  the days when school lunches are required and the amount of money in the envelope (Any cheques should be made payable to Sodexho Education Services Ltd - NB the minimum cheque amount is £9.00).

Your child can bring in a packed lunch if you prefer. Lunch boxes should be clearly labelled and manageable. Back to top
Uniforms
The school wishes all children to attend school wearing the school uniform. Details of the uniform can be found in the school prospectus contained in the Documents section of this website.

The school uniform can be ordered / purchased from the office. To obtain an order form, please click on the 'Documents' button to the left of this page, select 'General' and then open the Uniform Order Form (MS Word document).

Please label your child's uniform clearly. Back to top

This years term dates are shown in the News section of this website. Back to top
Drinking Water
Our brains, like the rest of our bodies, become dehydrated if we do not drink enough water. Dehydrated brains cannot learn! It is essential to drink plenty of water throughout the day, as well as eating a healthy diet. With this in mind the school provides the children with drink bottles and good quality, filtered drinking water.

To help fund this facility, parents are asked to contribute £1 per child, per term. Please send in this money in an envelope marked with your child's name and 'water money'. Back to top
After School Clubs
The school provides a number of activities, which vary depending upon the term and children's age ranges. Back to top
Parent's Evenings
It is important to keep up with your child's progress. With this in mind parent's evenings are held in the Autumn and Spring terms and a written report provided in the Summer term.

If your child's teacher has any particular concerns, they will arrange a meeting with you. If you have any worries about your child's progress, please talk to your child's teacher at the end of the school day so that a mutually convenient meeting time can be arranged. Back to top
Parents at the school gate
Many friendships develop at the school gate. You will be able to share school related concerns with more experienced parents and ease some worries you may have. However, sometimes what is said may not be true, or the full information, and consequently may make you more anxious. If you have any concerns, always talk to the class teacher to avoid being misinformed. Back to top
Information
At different times the school will need to communicate with you. All newsletters and information from the school is given to your child, who is then asked to put it in their Book Bags. For this reason your child's Book Bag should be checked every day.

News items will also be posted on this website. Back to top
Illness
If your child is ill, please call the school on the morning of their first day of absence to let us know. A letter stating why your child was absent will be needed when your child returns to school. Back to top
