Essential Information

Hopefully you will find all the practical information you need about school in this section.  If there is anything further you require please contact the school office.

The School Day

Please help us to get the school day off to a good start by ensuring children are in the playground before the bell goes at 8:50 am.  The playground is staffed from 8:40 am.  Children should not be left in the playground on their own before this time.

Start of School Day:          8:50 am

Morning Break:                 10.45 am

Lunch time:                      12:15 to 1:15 pm

End of School Day:            3:15 pm

Absence or late arrival

Children arriving to school late or leaving early:  Children arriving late must go to the school office to be signed in before he/she goes to class.  Any child arriving after 9.30 a.m. will have an unauthorised absence recorded.  If you need to collect your child from school during the course of the school day (e.g. for a medical appointment) please go to the school office to sign your child out and a member of staff will collect your child from class.

Authorised absence:  Absences (unless medical) and holiday during term time should be avoided.  Only in extreme cases will absences be authorised as per the guidance from the Department of Education.

School Security

The school gate is on a time lock and will automatically lock at 8.55am (5 minutes after the school morning starts) and will re-open at 2.50pm for parents to access the office if required.  Outside these times the gate is operated by a 'door-entry' system and visitors can speak to a member of staff before gaining entry to the school.  All visitors including parents must go to the school office to sign in and be given a visitors sticker before entering the school.  Please remember to sign out before you leave the school.

Sickness and Medical Information

Sickness- If your child is unable to attend school please phone or email the school office before 9 am.  On return to school please send a note to the class teacher explaining reason for absence.  Please keep your child at home if he/she has had sickness or diarrhoea for 48 hours after last bout of sickness/diarrhoea as this helps stop the spread of infection.

Medical Information and Medicines:  We need to know of any medical conditions or allergies your child may have.  If your child has asthma or diabetes please contact the school office for a form and information on how we handle this in school.  We will not and do not give any medicines including Calpol and antibiotics to pupils.  If necessary you may come in to school to give these if your child is ill but well enough to be in school.
