New entrants to the school can be admitted in the September before their fifth birthday. Children can then spend three full years in Key Stage 1. A programme of events is planned prior to this so that new parents feel part of the school and work with the teachers to give their child a happy start to school life.
All reception children start school on a part-time basis, enabling them to gradually come to terms with school routine and not get too tired. For the first few weeks the children are in school for the morning, this gradually builds up to them staying for lunch and then just before the half term break, the children stay for the whole day.
Sometimes a very young child may prefer a longer period of part-time attendance. This can be arranged, and parents are asked not to rush their children if this would be beneficial to them.
